Snow Day! In Louisiana?
I have seen it all.
Dee and I awoke December 11 to look out our window and see 3-4” of snow on the ground. So we bundled up and headed out to walk about and enjoy the scenery. All was fine for the first few minutes of the walk.
The snow covered everything – a complete blanket of white. It was truly breathtaking for two folks that don’t get to see a lot of the stuff.
But then we turned the corner and WHAM! The fun ended. I became a hater of snow.
The weight of the snow had collapsed four of our green houses!
My love of snow lasted less than a few brief moments.
We feel blessed in that there were many others in our area that lost more than just a few houses – 200 plus greenhouses in our area were lost in this freak weather event.
In the end the plants were saved and the snow melted and repairs began. Just another day in the nursery business.
So I leave this post with a couple pictures and few poetic words.
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued
--- Robert Frost
Fun - Fun!
